Hello, and welcome. You’re listening to DaHjaj Hol, your daily dose of Klingon language. I’m your host, Lawrence Schoen.

If it’s Friday – and it is – that means we have another opportunity to peek inside Marc Okrand’s excellent book Klingon for the Galactic Traveler and seize a new word. Our choice today is the noun QoQ. Capital Q, O, Capital Q. QoQ means music. How have we managed without this word for nearly a year? Let’s not delay another moment! Here are some musical example sentences:

bIjatlhDI’ QoQ vIQoy
when you speak, I hear music

vIngbogh yIHmey rur QoQqoqlIj
your so-called music resembles whiny tribbles

yabvo’ ’el meqmey ’ach tIqvo’ ’el QoQ
reasons enter from the mind, but music enters from the heart

You can find music everywhere, because it is just another facet of language. As you become more proficient in Klingon, you will begin to hear the notes and melodies of the warriors’ tongue, and when you speak it will be as in song. As you practice, try to hear the music that’s in every sentence you create. qo’mey poSmoH Hol.
