Hello, and welcome. You’re listening to DaHjaj Hol, your daily dose of Klingon language. I’m your host, Lawrence Schoen.
As I hope you’ll recall from last week, all our remaining Wednesdays this year will be dedicated to a set of special Klingon nouns that deal with spatial relations. Today’s selection is Dung. Capital D, U, NG. Dung means the area above. As with other words of this type, you can use Dung by itself, with any noun suffixs, or even as part of a Noun-Noun phrase. Consider the following sample sentences:
chom Dung Dab ’Iv
who lives above the bartender?
DungDaq tujqu’be’
it’s not very hot above
qan Dung ’ach rambe’
the space above is old, but it’s not insignificant
You probably already know dozens of ways you want to use this new word. Well, nothing’s stopping you. It’s important to have a keen appreciation of spatial relations if you’re going to be opening up worlds. qo’mey poSmoH Hol.
