We come at last to the end of our suffixes. It’s the Type 1 noun suffix –’a’. Apostrophe, A, Apostrophe. –’a’ is an augmenting suffix. Any noun you attach it to will be perceived as greater, more powerful, or more important. Like it’s diminuating opposite number (introduced to you last week), this suffix also produces very subjective results in meaning. So, as with –Hom use it with care.

You may not know if a word in Klingon has an English equivalent, particularly when you’ve created it with one or more suffixes, and that’s fine. Klingon can describe some worlds better than English, and vice versa. Languages carve up reality in different ways. This is part of how they open worlds. qo’mey poSmoH Hol.
