Hello, and welcome. You’re listening to DaHjaj Hol, your daily dose of Klingon language. I’m your host, Lawrence Schoen.
Today I’d like to give you a pair of verbs to play with. HIv means attack. Capital H, Capital I, V. HIv
Hub means defend. That’s Capital H, U, B. Hub
Try them out:
reH maHIv
we always attack
bong chomvetlh wIHIv
we accidentally attacked that bartender
bIbolmo’ DuHublaHbe’ vavwI’
because you drool, my father cannot defend you
HIvDI’ romuluSngan bIHubnISbe’
when the Romulan attacks, you don’t need to defend
I could tell you that using these two verbs to create pairs of practice sentences to review some of the vocabulary you already know would be a great way to strengthen your skill with the language, I could tell you that, but I would rather let you discover this for yourself. Only by attacking your own weaknesses can you come to defend yourself. Battling language is another way you can use it to open worlds. qo’mey poSmoH Hol.
