A few months back Paper Golem opened to submissions for a new anthology. The idea was to give writers a collection and prompts and then see where they took them. I recycled a title from an earlier, limited release, and so this new anthology is called Cucurbital 2.

For this first volume the prompts were watermelon, turtle, and sex worker. The open reading period came and went, and in the end seven stories were selected, bringing the book came to an aesthetically pleasing 100 pages.

It went off to the printer. It came back. Copies have been sent off to various reviewers, and the release date is slated in the first week of November, with a “pre-launch” to take place in late October at Capclave, a smallish convention with a reputation of supporting both small presses and short fiction.

The trade paperback is priced at a mere ten dollars. There will also be a hardcover edition, as well as ePub and mobi formats available. I expect to open to pre-orders after returning the Worldcon.

One last bit: anyone buying a paper edition of the book (either TPB or HC) from the Paper Golem website can receive the ebook version at no additional charge. As Paper Golem moves into the realm of e-publishing this will be our policy. And, it will also apply retro-actively as we bring past titles online as ebooks (except where our authors have made other arrangements for their electronic rights).
