Hello, and welcome. You’re listening to DaHjaj Hol, your daily dose of Klingon language. I’m your host, Lawrence Schoen.

Who doesn’t love a Monday? Especially when you know that Monday brings with it a new verb!

Today’s verb is ram. R, A, M. ram means be trivial, trifling, or insignificant. Let’s have some fun with it.

ram DujlIj nuHmey
your ship’s weapons are trivial

ram romuluSngan ‘ach ngIj romuluSngan
Romulans are insignificant, but they’re rowdy

chaq rambe’chugh qIvonDu’lIj bInarghlaH
perhaps if your qIvon is insignificant, you can escape

Eventually, you’ll reach a point where you have obtained fluency and you’ll have the ability to express your every thought in the Klingon language. But that day hasn’t yet arrived. Daily practice is not trivial. To open worlds, you must have language. To have language, you must continue to practice. Now get to work. qo’mey poSmoH Hol.

My favorite Klingon double entendre is parmaq ram, which means both “trivial romance” and “night of passion”.
