Hello, and welcome. You’re listening to DaHjaj Hol, your daily dose of Klingon language. I’m your host, Lawrence Schoen.

It’s another Verb Day, and we’re about to leave February. That’s fine, because you should remember mej leave, but you don’t know how to say enter, so this would be a good time for you to learn ‘el. Apostrophe, E, L. ‘el means enter or go in.

chom ‘el chechwI’
the drunkard enters the bar

DujlIj ‘elDI’ romuluSgnan mamejlaH
as soon as the Romulan enters your ship, we can leave

‘elchugh jabwI’ megh boSoplaHbe’
if the waiter doesn’t enter, you guys cannot eat lunch

batlh ‘elnIS vavnI’lI’ ‘ach HoHnISbe’
your grandfather needs to enter honorably, but he doesn’t need to kill

It’s easy to come and go now, is it not? Hither and yon, you can now use Klingon as you wander wherever the mood takes you. And with the right mood, it could take you far indeed. Because, as I’m sure you know by now, language opens worlds. qo’mey poSmoH Hol.
